Jade, great points- I'm stuck on the "get a group picture" and can't quite nail that one. We always have professional photographers on site to do roving pictures and to do posed pictures for avatars but I don't know that I can get over 200 people into a picture... are the tweetups we organize abnormally big or are you able to corral that many people at once? HELP! I'm open to thoughts.... :)

@jadecraven,

Which other Twitter meet ups have you been to besides Tweetupmellers? What were the organisers of other Twitter meet ups doing wrong that made it a different sense of community than what you expected?

Lucilla - some great ideas there! I'll pass them on to the organizers. We do have individuals who do their own podcasts, and @akavirtualpa came with a shirt with her twitter name on it.

My previous Twitip post was getting a job thanks to tweetups.

Amy - if you are in Melbourne, Darren actually attends twetups quite often.

Keep the ideas coming. :-)

Great ideas to add to our TweetUp events here in Sedona. AZ. We also include organizations to support like Camp Soaring Eagle - they send kids to camp who are medically challenged, and the Food Bank.

Nice list, thanks. Here's one addition to your point #10, groups on social networks:

If you tweetup group has a Facebook page, use the Social Transcripts app to create a snapshot of all related tweets and publish it on Facebook.
The app publishes tweets to a "Transcripts" tab (you enter the terms to monitor) - and publishes the transcript once a day as a FB note to your community of fans or friends.

A way to deliver Twitter transcripts to Facebook communities, and hopefully relevant here.
Thanks.

In Puerto Rico there is a group called the Twittericans, people from Puerto Rico who use Twitter. There is an official page www.twittericans.net, a podcast called the Twittericans Tweetcast, stickers, and the biggest hit of all is the Twittericans T-Shirt. I have acquired clients for our resume writing service through the meet-ups. What started as professional connections, in some cases have become personal connections. Great article about building community through Twitter.
