Review of Laura Roeder’s Backstage Pass To Twitter Webinar

There have been a number of teaching resources to help people learn about Twitter lately – one of which is The Backstage Pass to Twitter Success by Laura Roeder. I’ve heard a few people say that they found Laura’s training helpful so I asked one of them – Dave Navarro from The Launch Coach – if he’d be willing to write a review of it. Here’s what he came back with.

logo-trans.pngI’ll be honest – I’ve been on Twitter longer than Laura Roeder has (well, only three weeks longer, but still, I have to claim what I can). But there’s one big difference between how the last 12 months have played out for the both of us. While I have a healthy enough Twitter following – almost 1.5 followers per person I follow – Laura has a staggering 8 followers per person she follows.

Clearly, Laura knows something I don’t. Maybe a whole lot of somethings. So when she launched her “Backstage Pass to Twitter” webinar a few weeks ago, I had to take a look … and here’s my review.

Save The Hive Mind

by Chris Allison (@Chris_Allison) CMO of Centsports.

hive_379x90

It sounds a bit funny to discuss Twitter as the hive mind when so few are tapping into the potential of communal thought, but I wager this audience is pushing their use of technology more than the average early adopter. I’m also assuming in this post that you’ve recognized the potential that we have to connect, create, store, and retrieve data using Twitter’s search function. If you haven’t, you may want to read my post here on Twitip about searching Twitter – it’s a good introduction. There are lots of awesome ways you can search through the conversation on Twitter. You can find people that are tweeting from certain locations, about certain subjects, or at certain times. However, this ability is being threatened. I’m now calling upon the 7,000 of you who subscribe to this blog to help us all in a valiant cause.

Twitter Is The New Recess

by Sean Platt from Ghostwriter Dad and Collective Inkwell. Follow him @writerdad.

For the first few months after I’d signed up for my Twitter account, it sat there doing little outside taunting me with what I didn’t know and was not yet ready to learn.

It was the newest of the new; the styrofoam peanuts still sticking to the blue bird’s feathers. I’d heard how amazing Twitter was; a shot of adrenaline to socializing, marketing and a dozen other ings all singing in unison.

But I didn’t get it.

Every time I loaded the web page I felt like a million minutes were melting from my day. How could anyone pull value from such an incessant stream of data? How was advantage sifted and filtered? An concept founded on fast moving information, slung across an interface filled with molasses only seemed to underscore one essential truth:

When I was on Twitter, I wasn’t working.

How to Follow Everyone Back on Twitter Without Ruining Your Experience

by Skellie from Skelliewag. Follow her @skellie.

How often have you heard the argument that not following back everyone who follows you is ’snobby’ and ‘arrogant’?

(It’s not, and you shouldn’t listen to anyone who tells you so. You have a right to choose who you follow and don’t follow.)

Following everyone back has other benefits, though – and this is coming from someone who used to be a die-hard proponent of only following a smaller group of people who you know and admire.

Following everyone back helps you to create stronger relationships with the people who care about what you do online. Any marketer will tell you that relationships are the key to success. Even if you’re just using Twitter for the fun of it, relationships and getting to know fantastic people are what makes it rewarding.

But what if you don’t want to miss out on tweets from your favorite Twitter users?

In this post, I’m going to show you how to have your cake and eat it too. You can follow everyone while still keeping close tabs on your favorite Twitter users.

6 Reasons To Get Rid Of That Generic Twitter Background Once and for All

by Fredrickus Williford of Doctor Twitter. Follow him @BlackMediaProp

drtwitter Many people think custom twitter backgrounds or themes with anything other than their business network profile and personal site links are not for the tech/business folks or only for the teenie-bopper Myspace crowd. I say it couldn’t be further from the truth. Here’s 6 reasons why all Twitip readers should dispose of those generic Twitter backgrounds today! Why? Because you could start gaining more followers by connecting with your target audience and relating to your peers.

Five Types Of Twitter Users You May Not Know Exist

by Senthil Nambi. Follow him @senthilnambi.

Celebrity

Be it a movie star, musician, CEO of a failing company, a comedian or that dude that married Demi Moore. They follow literally a handful of people, but have thousands of females following. In the case of Kevin Rose, there seems to be thousands and thousands of males following. (Say man crush three times in a row really fast!)

They will most likely not reply to your comment, although eagerly you might wait, hitting the refresh button every other second, only to curl up in a ball and cry yourself to sleep that night. Though their tweets are as mundane as “Taking a nap,” their hardcore followers still manage to reply to it with great enthusiasm. Examples: “Naps are great,” “Good Job,” “I love you Stephen Colbert.” Okay the last one was mine. Thinking back, maybe that’s the reason Levar Burton didn’t reply to my tweet.

Personal Brand – How to Build Yours In Twitter

Isn’t branding for companies or products? Why would anyone want a personal brand anyway?

Nowadays people prefer to connect with other people rather than with a corporate brand. Whether you are a company or individual, branding is a way to make yourself memorable.

Yes, personal branding is about making yourself memorable.

Examples of Personal Brand

Donald Trump is known as a dealmaker. That is his brand. As someone who knows Mr. Trump only from television — in The Apprentice TV series — I also tend to think of “Trump” as quality and luxury.
