I'm a bit late to this post, but another (new) tool to measure the distance a tweet traveled (including retweets, replies, and other mentions of a phrase or link) is TweetReach - http://tweetreach.com. Results include some graphics and interesting numbers about how many people saw a tweet.

@theakiba it's the Tweetmeme widget (http://tweetmeme.com/static.php?page=button)

I have to admit, I'm quite surprised that the Tweetmeme button/widget didn't make this list given it's value and increasing popularity.

Love the post!
I love the twitter plugin you use in the blog (top-right corner of the post), wonder if you could tell me how you implement it.

Darren,
Good post on these tools. The RT can be very powerful, and these tools are good for learning how to get one and how to track them. Good post!

Hello Darren,
Thanks for the quality content as usual. You are the authority on Twitter and Blogging in general and absolutely love what you do. Ok, enough of the praise, my question:
I came across a post on a Twitter enthusiast website (ryanwade) in which there was a small script that he wrote asking the user to enter their Twitter id + password and it would automatically retweet a specific post he wants to go viral (and obviously generate traffic to his website)...and I would get a chance to win something. Eventhough he says that my username + password will not be stored, what's the guarantee? I want to know your take on that kind of tactic please. (ps: nothing against the guy, he seems great in fact! We're talking about the approach here!)

UGH- I cannot stand retweets! There are people who retweet so much that I stop following them because they have no original thoughts.
