While there are a lot of people out there trying to make a quick buck out there selling affiliate products, there are some useful business promoting themselves on Twitter. Real work at home jobs exist, although they usually involve creating your own website and using it in some way to make money (advertising, affiliate sales, product sales, service sales, etc..).

Finding a way to make money is not the problem running your own home based business. The real problem is how do you get people to your website and even more so, how do you get your website to show up in a good ranking position in organic search results?

The real solution to the website traffic problem is actually completely free. That solution is the article submission directory and the concept is quite simple. Just write an article about a subject relating to your website, products and/or services that consists of a few hundred words. Do NOT promote your website within the body of the article or even talk about it directly. You will have an author resource box below the article body that you can use to include two links to your website(s) and some information about them. These articles can then be viewed by the general public and indexed by search engines, which means you will receive free targeted one-way backlinks to your website! These types of backlinks can be absolutely priceless to your online business and will provide you with amazing results in the search engines. To make things even better, other websites can even republish your articles which will keep your backlinks intact. As a result, each article that you write can potentially provide you with dozens or even hundreds of backlinks over time.

Hello, Jade,

Thank you for your great advice on how to get a job using twitter. I appreciate the time you spent to write about your experience and sharing it with others. You gained another follower by your post.

As for the rest of the group, thank you for sharing your comments. You, too, have earned an additional follower. I am looking for a software developer position in the Greater Milwaukee, Wisconsin area, but I also have additional skills which I believe could be beneficial to a company. I spend several hours a week on linked-in, and also some time reading and sharing encouraging and useful information with the people on twitter.

I wish all of you the best!

Looks like a great advice!

I believe Twitter really is the place where we can do what we want. It’s the domain of genuine, smart and inspiring people who know that helping others to be successful is the best way of being successful yourself.
As some times Yahoo and MSN messengers were. :)

Anyway, Great advice and Thanks alot.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their comments so far.

I tried not to talk about having anxiety in the post, but this has made a lot of the in person networking difficult. I perservered and things have really improved as a result.

I now am a huge fan of the personal connection when it comes to blogging. I'm now working on ways to create more of a personal connection for those I cant meet in person.

Great advice. Especially Tweetups. It's easy to forget that the personal connection helps to cement the virtual one.

Hi Jade,

This is a great post. Although I've thought about how to use Twitter to generate business on-line, I had not considered the off-line possibilities. I'm going to explore Tweetups in my area and take this a bit further.

Thanks a lot!
