This post on being a Super Hero in your use of Twitter is by Shawna Coronado from The Casual Gardener (yes, that’s her in the pic!) – (follow her at @ShawnaCoronado).
You can change the world for the better – you CAN make a difference! This is the message I have for all the Twitter community.
How can you do it? You are one person, and the Twitter Universe is immense, right? Yes, but you have Twitter Super Powers.
Truth be told, Twitter is a world of influence with the opportunity to meet hundreds and thousands of people. Although we all are on Twitter to make friends we are also on to influence others and encourage them to acknowledge our platform. Whether it is selling a retail product, service, or an idea – we are hoping that the Twitter world is listening.
And guess what? The Twitter Universe IS listening and more importantly, is out to help each other.
Proof of this is seen in the ripples of response which happen after a disaster, for example the recent plane crash in the Hudson River. So many people are on Twitter informing the world of the details and supporting each other through the emotional aspect of the disaster that we, as Tweeters, are influencing the news media and the senior corporate executives of the world.
Twitter has become more than a ripple; it has become a tidal wave of influence. With this type of influence at every Tweeters finger tips – a superpower many people do not have access to – isn’t it time you started thinking of how you can use your Twitter Super Powers for good?
Crime, terrorists, war, hate – there are so many evil forces in the world looking to bring the human spirit down. Why not promote positive thinking? Build positive community, feed the poor, rescue landfills, help the underprivileged, teach people to do good in the world: all these causes can be influenced by your personal Super Powers. You can make a difference for so many people by being a part of Twitter.
Consider the above statement: “You can make a difference for so many people.” Why are you still one of the bland thousands who are simply “selling your product” with boring retail sales tweets? Not only are they boring, the rest of the Twitter Universe benefits very little from having them funnel through our feed. We all need help and need to give help to be a part of the Twitter experience.
If you take the time to communicate with other people, you WILL be selling your platform and your products. Better yet, when you take the time to communicate and encourage messages which teach the concepts of doing the right thing and making a difference, you will be doing more good with your Twitter Super Powers than you could ever imagine.
Being good to one another is the right thing to do – so be the superhero and save the day. Use your Twitter Super Powers for good!

Very inspiring post! Thank you.
There are so many ways to make a difference for people -cheer them up, support them, inform them, share knowledge and answer questions, connect them with others, inpsire them…
@jrgriggs
Yeah Twitter has done some amazing things. Not only a great way to learn but also to teach. You can also really brighten up someones day just by congratulating them on an achievement they post. Twitter is also one more way info will be sent faster.
@aboundlessworld
I whole heartily agree. Now more than ever is the time to make a difference. With twitter making a difference in the world is EASY. The people that use twitter are the people who WANT to make a difference. Just the other day I wrote a blog article on World Hunger and with in seconds 4 people retweeted this. http://tinyurl.com/a52r57 It’s fascinating to know that through twitter we really can raise awareness and truly make a difference!
@benwhat
Enjoyed the post so much I RTed! I agree that there is so much negativity in the world that it’s refreshing to see a community that is so open and positive! Thanks!
@GraftFinder
Wow..excellent article and it is so true! If fact it is the reason I am on twitter with my company. So many people have given the Gift Of Life by donating. I feel called to protect and honor that “Healing Spirit” behind their donation. Giving back on twitter..it is the least I can do! “Anyone can be Great because anyone can Serve” MLK
Thanks for the post!

Love the picture, you look very nice in red. Thanks for the reminder of how to help make a difference in the world just using twitter.
@debworks
Shawna – you hit the nail on the head!
Shawna met with me when I was in Chicago, spent two hours drinking coffee, working on the computer and she was answering questions, giving suggestions and making me laugh. Great tweet-up!
Thanks,
Deb

Great post! When I first joined twitter I had no idea the friendships and connections that would be made. I often sit in amazement. I have met tweeters face to face who are amazing people. I’ve talked on the phone with some and chatted with others. My life has been so enriched by the beautiful people on twitter. My goal is always to give back or to pay it forward … or in this instance to be a twitter superhero! =)
@brandonacox
I love the thought of doing anything simply because it is the right thing to do – love that last truth you told!
@Shogun1947
Nice post! Yep. Twitter is a very powerful tool and we have the world at our fingertips. Since this reaches out to so many people we need to act responsibly and be positive in our communication.
@shawnacoronado
Glad you folks liked the blog. Life is not easy, in my opinion, if everyone can work together to help each other make a difference it will happen.

@thebencs
Hola como estas?
than you for the post.
@jasonaltenburg
This reminds me a lot of the reasons that I initially joined and am still active at 43Things.com I really enjoy cheering other people on when they take on goals, and also it’s nice to know that others out there are listening when you have an idea.
One thing I am liking a lot about Twitter is the nearly instantaneous flow of information from person to person, in a non-stop cavalcade of links, quotes, and helpful advice.
I agree wholly with the fact that we need to be positive in our communications, but one of my main concerns for the future of information is accuracy and credibility issues.
@TweeterTips
Great reminder that we can use Twitter for making a change for the better. Stay positive and change the world people!
