TwiTip Has a Shiny New Look!

Okay, so it’s been a few months in the making, but the shiny, new TwiTip is finally here! Thanks to the folks at Cre8d Design we’re more organized, colorful and easier to navigate.

Check out the Add A Tip page, too! Now you can submit your guest posts right through the site, which is (in my opinion) way cool. Even better, regular guest authors will have their own bios for even more exposure.

We’d love to hear what you think, so don’t hesitate to peek around and come back here with feedback. We’re still cleaning up a few things, so please be patient and let us know if you have any problems!

Going to Blog World Expo? Want To? How About Dinner With Darren?

Blog World & New Media Expo is essentially a must for bloggers. If you haven’t gotten your ticket yet, Darren’s running a “quick n’ dirty” competition for a free weekend pass. We’re drawing the winner on Wednesday, so if you want in, hurry up. (And yes, you need to be prepared to pay for your own transportation to Las Vegas, NV as well as your own hotel accomodations while you’re there. But the pass gets you into the conference and a couple of the parties, so it’s totally worth it! Value: $495)

You can also still purchase tickets, and get a 20% discount by using the promo code PB20 at checkout. Here are some attendee reactions from previous years. I’m personally a huge fan, as I went last year. It’s a lot of fun, and there’s nowhere else you can get this up close and personal with so many industry leaders!

We’re also holding another competition where you can win a place at dinner with Darren, myself, and a few of Darren’s blogging/social media friends on Wednesday night at the beautiful Fiamma Trattoria over at MGM (Dinner graciously provided by Fiamma and @TasteMGMGrand). For this, you need to be already planning to attend Blog World, and must be available for dinner on Wednesday night (10/14/09) at 6pm. Details here.

Hope to see you there!

ProBlogger.Com Launched!

Okay, so I know this isn’t really a Twitter-related post, but it’s got to do with blogging, and that’s just as close as can be.

Darren and I launched ProBlogger.com last week, and have since found ourselves with over 1300 new members. We’re quite pleased with the number of course, but even better than that is the quality of people who are really spending time in there. For as little as $1.95/month, you can become one of them!

People are helping each other, promoting each other, critiquing and supporting each other. It’s fantastic, and I can’t wait to watch this community grow. I’m proud to be the Community Manager for the new project, and I’d love to see you join up and take part in the magic we’re building!

Here are some detailed posts and links to help you decide if this community’s right for you:

If you’ve joined already, thank you – Please let everyone know what you think so far in the comments!

Welcome to SitePoint – TwiTip’s First Sponsor

sitepoint.pngI’m very excited to welcome SitePoint (a great site for Web Developers, Designers and Online Publishers) as the first ever official sponsor for TwiTip.

You’ll see a couple of messages from SitePoint on our blog and one in our RSS feed. They highlight two offers that SitePoint are currently running. One is their Web Site Revenue Maximizer and another is their Free CSS Book giveaway promotion (for anyone that follows them on Twitter) that they spoke about recently here on TwiTip in a guest post on how they grew their Twitter followers from 0-10,000+ in a week.

SitePoint will be sponsoring TwiTip for the month of December – I hope you’ll support this blog by supporting our sponsors.

We’re Moving Servers

TwiTip has grown so fast in the last 16 days since launch that we’ve already outgrown our server and were starting to get a few ‘over capacity’ errors.

As a result today we’re moving servers to a much more powerful and reliable service (here’s hoping anyway). We’re starting the move any minute now – so there could be a few glitches and errors for the next little while. Hopefully we don’t lose anyone’s comments or have too much disruption. Thanks for your patience

Update – I think we’ve moved everything without too many problems.

One NEW FEATURE you’ll notice here on TwiTip is the ability to leave your Twitter ID when you leave a comment – it’s now part of the comment form.

Welcome to TwiTip

Lately I’ve been discovering the power of Twitter in new and fresh ways (at least they are new and fresh to me).

I write about much of what I’m learning on ProBlogger but I think if I wrote everything that I wanted to write about Twitter over there it’d probably put a few of my readers off – after all ProBlogger is a blog about blogging.

So – I’ve decided to start TwiTip – a place where I can focus upon Twitter without worrying (too much) about coming off as obsessed!

Want to learn more? I’ve shared a few more thoughts on my story and what I want to achieve with TwitTip on my About TwitTip page.

Other than that – you know as much as I do. Keep in mind that this blog is all very new. I’m using the Thesis theme (which is amazing – but which will take me a while to get just right) and still doing lots of ‘tweaking’. It’ll probably also take me a few weeks to get into full swing of publishing. I’m not intending this to be a daily publishing blog (at least not in the short term) – so subscribe to my feed but don’t expect to be inundated with new posts multiple times a day!
