There has been a lot of talk about ReTweeting in the last month (see below for some posts here on TwiTip) and increasingly I’m becoming aware that it is a part of Twitter that people either love or hate.
So here’s a quick poll question – do you ReTweet? If so, how much?
Here are a few resources and posts we’ve done on ReTweeting lately:

@GimmeBluFrog
I love retweets and retweeting. I can’t follow everyone, and there’s lots of great content on Twitter that I wouldn’t see without retweets. It’s also really nice to get retweeted. In general, I believe the number of retweets a user gets is a better indicator of that user’s influence than the number of followers a user has.
@nlupus
People who don’t retweet are snobs!
@Archit
Yes, I do Retweet and on a daily basis mostly.
@jeffkart
Yes. Twitter is a conversation. Passing on information is part of the give and take. People who have good things to say and good links to pass on deserve credit for their words of wisdom. That’s a RT.
@tumblemoose
I do spend a great deal of time retweeting. I’m on Twitter every day and I would conservatively say about 25% of my tweets are retweets

@wedwithease
It’s called Social Networking for a reason. You follow someone because you are interested in what they have to say, think they have something worthwhile, RT & SHARE them & their gifts to your followers! Help your fellow Tweeters by spreading their name!
BTW, very glad to see a form with a place to put your twitter id, I usually put it in the name spot, like so: Layla D. Smith @wedwithease
so, love having it in the form!!!
@mikecj
Yes, I retweet. Surely one of the great things about Twitter is that you can pass the good stuff onto your own followers.
@geenius545
I probably RT once / twice a week, it has to be something pretty special.
Also if we are talking about twitter-conversational habits then I try to keep conversations to DM’s to avoid spamming people (just thought I would chuck that into the mix)
@Tobi_as
I guess I do retweet 1-2 times a week.
I wouldn’t like to read my own twitterstream if there’d be daily retweets.
@richrecruiter
I have roughly 6K updates and have only retweeted once or twice. In those instances, it was done to let people know that I received an answer to a question that I asked.
I rarely re-tweet unless it’s something I think is really worth repeating. I feel like it’s starting to be overdone when ten people I’m following re-tweet the same thing, from favourite quotes. to something they personally found funny, to useful resources. .
@mayhemstudios
The retweet is a very powerful tool. It helps to educate, inspire, build your network and connect with people. Many people don’t understand it or get it.
I retweet a lot daily, sometimes 2-3 times the same tweet for new followers, people in different time zones and internationally that aren’t around.
@dottedi
After 6 months I still consider myself fairly new to Twitter, still getting into the swing of things, only how to do things, but why. I’ve recently started retweeting and am probably in the 3-4 retweets per week class, but rising.
Perhaps I’m a little cautious but rather than jump head first into an application or tool I like to see how others are using it, then put my ears to the ground and hear the vibrations including repurcussions if any. In the case of the retweet the question is whether the noise is useful as chances are, like MLN, the folks at the top of the triangle earn the most noise. But that’s perhaps why they get paid the big bucks!
@JamieSanford
I will retweet anything I see that I think is amusing or helpful to people following me on twitter. I know there is a lot of overlap there, but retweeting is the norm. I don’t understand people who do not retweet. It’s good relationship building as well, I know I am happy when someone enjoys my content and retweets.
@iamkrissy
I retweet when there’s something worth retweeting! Maybe once a day, maybe a few times a day.
@thebenchs
I really dont do it ofthen becuase its have to be soemthing really interesthing to me and that i consider it interesthing for other so i Rt it.
@vlb
Yes, but on my terms. I almost never retweet in response to someone saying “Please ReTweet this”
@ariherzog
If I’m at a party and someone recites a funny joke, I might laugh and re-tell it later, attributing the source. That’s retweeting. I do it. Doesn’t everyone?
@soulpowr
I’m the queen of retweet. If I think it’s useful, funny, weird or shocking RT it is.
@nikkistarr
I definitely retweet and I count on my friends too as well in case I miss something. Twitter is like headline news to me. When I come across a great post or something interesting and witty I love to retweet.
@stephentiano
Initially, I was rather suspicious of a steady does of RTs. Actually struck me as a waste of bandwidth in the sense that, well, it’d already been done. But then I got to thinking how people who follow me may not follow someone who’s tweeted something terrific. So, even tho’ I prefer to hang my hat on having something of my own to say, I have to agree with Ari, who makes the perfects analogy about hearing and re-telling a good joke, and Cal, who properly points out the power of retweeting, as well as reminding me that it can actually be a courtesy.
@JDEbberly
I love to ReTweet anything I find interesting that may also interest and/or benefit my readers. I also like to ReTweet because it helps out the person I am ReTweeting.
I might have to go Tweet this article, then ReTweet it LOL!
@myladida
Hi! Great article! I am new to Twitter and someone (supposed to be you) just started following me. Just wanted to check if this really is your account?

@DotComDud
I do ReTweet but I don’t really have the ReTweet mindset where I see something I like and automatically RT, it usually has to be something amazing or a request from a friend.
@HenkTerHeide
Retweeting is an ideal way to give people information that I couldn’t find my self. For that reason I use a rss feed alert from Twitter search to find tweets concerning art.
@HenkTerHeide
Made a little mistake with my twitter ID
@nickcharlton
I often feel that the people following me would have already seen what I was retweeting, so I tend not to bother.
To some extent there does seem little point in telling people articles they have no doubt already seen. But with the same card, the amount you retweet should be dependent on the groups that you follow. Whilst myself I follow several high profile web designers and UK tech journalists, I know that some do not and some of the tweets they may be interested in.
I think it is all a balance on what kind of followers you have and the potential of interest if such a thing is seen.
@bloggeragent001
I retweet daily.
Now I can put my twitter id while commenting. Thats nice feature. Which plugin allow it to do so.
@srpatterson
I retweet ProBlogger and Shoemoney stuff all the time. Especially contest that I find about retweeting that I think followers will want to take part in.
I think the retweet says something the person who does it, often more than their actual tweets!
