Much lesser on my iPhone than on the desktop, maybe because copy and paste haven’t come to the iPhone yet! I mostly tweet about cool findings when I surf, so it’s quite difficult to do that on an iPhone than on my Mac.

    @GaneshaXi

    Let’s expand it…
What app do you use to tweet from, and what type of device?
HTC Juno (TMobile Shadow) running Windows Mobile, using PockeTwit which I LOVE!

  • December 27, 2008

Never used a phone, as it will distract me from my studies. Will use it after my exams :)

  • December 27, 2008

I tweet from my mobile every now and then!

    Voted from my mobile! :-)

Yea i’m with @GaneshaXi, it would be interesting to see what apps people use (or even if they just use plain SMS)?

Also I would like to add it’s a shame that SMS outgoing is no longer available in the UK :(

  • December 27, 2008

Sorry folks, I put my Twitter address in wrong above!

  • December 27, 2008

I would tweet from a mobile if I had internet access. I occasionally use the text functionaility but dislike it (I don’t like texting anyway). My cheapo mobile plan doesn’t allow internet access ;)

  • December 27, 2008

Well i stop tweet from portable divice from my ipod touch spild and my blackberry itsn configure well, so am sofering its hard dont do it when someting cool come to my mind.

  • December 27, 2008

I use tweeterberry on my phone… it’s pretty good!

  • December 27, 2008

I didn’t vote from the phone, but I do use my phone for Twitter. It’s nice an easy since there’s an app for BlackBerry :)

  • December 27, 2008

Nope, I never tweet from a mobile device. That’s probably because I’m on the computer all the time.

  • December 27, 2008

I used to when we were still able to receive SMS updates in Canada. Now that we can’t, I’ve stopped.

  • December 27, 2008

    its really simple and practice!

  • December 27, 2008

Too expensive over here to send Messages via SMS or mobileInternet unless you get a good flatrate Deal :-(

  • December 27, 2008

I tweet about 90% from my blackberry. There are times when I am by my home computer that I can tweet away using Twirl, but mostly from my phone.

As a side note, I think you should add another field in your poll, I tweet more than 50% of the time from my mobile device, but not excusively. Seems like you missed that representation.

    Cheers,
    Josh

  • December 27, 2008

Half on the Blackberry and half on the macbook. I can only use text on the blackberry since I don’t have a data plan to get and use apps.

  • December 27, 2008

Just every now and then. It’s too hard to engage in conversations from mobile devices so I usually wait til I’m back at my computer.

  • December 27, 2008

Just bought Tweety for my Iphone. It looks good. Will probably tweet more from it in the next couple of days. Hoping to have some exciting things to say about my first trip to New Orleans. But mostly what Ben said….

  • December 27, 2008

The iPhone has changed the way I tweet, since I love capturing thoughts on the go, pics, things I see, etc. That being said, I still like to keep track of directs and replies from my desktop, and still do a lot of my Twittering from home.

  • December 27, 2008

I tweet every so often from my phone, but I do so using either twitpic or ping.fm. Rarely do I got directly through twitter or a twitter app to post.

  • December 27, 2008

Tweeting through Tweeterific in my ipod touch is so convenient – unfortuantely I’ve lost my broadband password so can’t connect to my network on the touch at the moment :(

  • December 27, 2008

I stopped using Twitter because I didn’t have enough time…..

Until I recently bought the LG Lotus and now I can Twitter in previous “unusable time” – stuck in traffic, waiting for a meeting, on the toilet :)

  • December 27, 2008

I don’t read Twitter from handheld (smartphone / Palm PDA) but do occasionally send tweets when the mood suits (and I’m away from the computer.)

  • December 27, 2008

I just got an iPod Touch for Christmas and tweeted from it for the first time over lunch today, using Twitterific. It’s a great tool! I’ll definitely do it more.

  • December 27, 2008

Tweetie on the iPhone, but mostly Twhirl from the desktop.

  • December 27, 2008

Not only do I tweet from my iPod, mostly using Twitterific, I cannot stand to be stifled to the degree that I figured out how to send tweets from my dumbphone (LG Scoop from Alltel.) Here’s how I figured this trick out…

    1. I set up a free Posterous account at http://kristicolvin.posterous.com
    2. In the Main Account settings, I entered my mobile phone number so that I can send posts to my Posterous account via text message.
    3. I then set up Autoposting by adding my Twitter account as a service.

So when I am in the car or shopping, and read what people have said (because I pay extra for internet connectivity for the phone), I can shut down the browser, go into my text messages and send a specially formatted message to Twitter in response. A laborious process, but for a bona fide Twitter addict, a solution that works! ;-)

  • December 27, 2008

I think the poll should have included “most of the time” because I answered “always” but that is not really accurate. I plan on using twitter more often in the future, to incorporate some of the smart uses suggested by this blog, but for now I find that the only time I can “spare” for tweets is on my blackberry, when I’m on the move and I can’t be productive in other ways.
Darren, this blog is amazing, as is problogger, of course, congratulations and keep up the good work!

  • December 27, 2008

I post from my TwitterBerry. It’s a great tool for Blackberry users. Can make you even more addicted to Twitter though!

  • December 27, 2008

I Twitter from my BB about half the time via Twitterberry.

I tried to cast my vote from my BB through my BB Google Reader, but it wouldn’t take it. Had to vote from my desktop.

  • December 27, 2008

I only tweet at home and sometimes work. I don’t even have a mobile device!

  • December 27, 2008

Given I’m in front of the laptop so much there’s no need for me to have Twitter connected to my mobile phone at this point. Perhaps when my motivational speaker seminar schedule picks back up in the first and second quarter there will be a greater need.

  • December 28, 2008

@swimturtle – I agree, I would say significantly more than half my tweets come from Twitterberry, but a lot come from the web or Moodblast as well.

And to Darren, it’s not clear that e-mail is required to post a comment, or whether the email address gets published in any way.

  • December 30, 2008

I spend way too much time on slandr mobile but I spend as much time on the ‘real’ web. Sometimes I’ll use Slandr even while I am on the ‘real’ web; it makes it easier to retweet things.

  • December 31, 2008

I tweet from my BB via Twitterberry. It’s pretty useful, but really it’s slow and crashes a lot on my Pearl. I’m hoping for a better client in the future or eventually I’ll have the $ to get an Iphone.

  • December 31, 2008

Through twidroid and when thats laggy I resort to text. I use to text before I had a smart phone

    @apergl

Personally I twitter using my mobile phone on Opera Mini (excellent way to browse the web on almost any mobile)

  • February 19, 2010

The answer to this question is very simple.

    No!

I only have one phone that can connect to the Internet, but never visited twitter.

But, I should try it sometime, just for the experience.
