When I first started on Twitter: This was almost a year ago. As far as I know Twitter was only a month old. I used it for an hour. Not for anything specific.

When I got back on for the first time 8 months later: I started using it to learn how to use it. I thought it was for self promotion and blog advertising. A way to follow people's updates about their websites.

Once I got into an argument with Aloha Arlene: I started using it to be more social than blog/business.

Once I realized I was getting less followers because I was spitting out personal stuff: I stopped being on twitter every day.

I know that Twitter is suppose to be a social platform where people connect. And I'm not denying that it does just that. But people are still too quiet. They're still too closed off. Twitter would be perfect for social networking if people were more social.

I see it as a social business network versus a personal social network. People want and they want a lot. And to be honest, I dont think internet users are very interesting in knowing what coffee you drink, unless you blog about coffee.

Mainly professional, but I definitely use it for both. I've found it's a good way to get out health news I wouldn't have time to mention on my blog and to give healthy tips to my followers. But it's also a great way to connect and socialize with others using it.

Business, work, personal, pleasure, and all the above. I started using twitter as a way to stay connected with friends (@ryan_burns). Then I started to use twitter to try and make money (@gr8deals). Then I started using it when I started working for a Bible study software company (@logos). Then I started using it to connect people and promote my ,a href="http://www.goingtoseminary.com/">seminary website (@goingtoseminary). Finally, I started using it to make my friends laugh (@sphil_hons). As you can see, I'm all over the place with my twittering. However, I've enjoyed the unique experience that each account has brought me... except when I occasionally tweet on the wrong account...

I use twitter to engage with like-minded folks, both in business and personally. But my tweets are more about things I found useful and that my followers might find useful also.

Those I follow are :
- Bay Area people to find out and share what's going on in our neck of the woods
- people in my industry
- people who inspire
- people involved in church ministry
- people involved in helping/advising small businesses in social media and blogging
- people who share similar values

I tweet about all these things, and also "listen" to others' tweets about all these things. I am looking forward to engaging with these folks IRL (in real life) at local tweetups.

I don't see a need for having a separate business account at this time.

Twitter is a great source of inspiration for me. I use it 100% for business...and for me, business is pleasure. I have connected with great entrepreneurs via Twitter and keep learning about new tools that I would not have known otherwise. Technology truly fascinates me.

I absolutely LOVE learning and sharing valuable information and twitter makes it quick and easy.

I use twitter for both biz and personal and with similar frequency. My personal tweets range from mundane to helpful industry/social media-related info/tips. My biz accounts are just biz. I keep my online personalities seperate.

It's a constant tightrope walk the business v personal. On the company Twitter account I try to engage, answer and contribute, with a mix of our area of business, but I am mindful that it can't be all business, there has to be some of me in there. Oh, and before leaving this, let me say I've had some terrific story leads via Twitter, so it's most definitely for me a two-way street.

But, on the weekend for the first time on Twitter I shifted my tweeting over to my personal account. Most of you might be aware that there was a bit of commotion on the Twitter radar in the form of the #fisting hashtag. My first thought was, well, there's a lot of Australians in on this, who seem to have a healthy interest in tech, so I'll see if I can't connect with a few people.

Fun as it was, and it was for the most part fun (before the bots got into the whole shebang), with a fair bit of clever thrown in, I made the switch over to my little-used personal account. The right decision I feel, plus it forced me to be a little more active with with followers and followings on that other account, and now I have a nice little niche of people, and I get to use a variation of my voice on Twitter.

I started Twittering about 7 months ago with the intention of using it for both business and personal purposes. And at the time, I thought that it was simply a "what am I doing right now?" updater. But I finally started really studying the site and quickly came to the realization that it is much much more than that. After two weeks of intensive Twitter immersion, I use it to keep current, keep connected and keep engaged with a worldwide community. IT'S FRIGGIN' AWESOME

I personally enjoy using twitter for both personal, business, and just whatever. My iD is not focused on my niche, rather just my online handle. I would hope anyone interested in me would also be interested in the work I do, so I combine the two with Twitter.

Furthermore, this is the first actual Social Network site that I'm using for business, so we'll see how it goes, so far so good. I've had a few blog announcement posts retweeted and getting marginal increase in traffic.
