@Dantanner, You'll find for the most part bloggers are fairly smart folks with more free time online. With worm, virus, spyware, trojans - whatever whatever - like folks using Ubuntu, Debian GNU/Linux or other flavor of Linux - we have free time to be creative and explore.

Even since my writing of this there have been several updates, including what @benhomie spoke about and the flickr comments. You can also follow Eventbox directly on twitter now @eventbox.

As severally people also commented, yes Pownce is shutting down. I wonder what it will be replaced with?

Social aggregators are an interesting idea, and I think we're going to see more of them as our conversations get spread out over more and more channels. That being said, EventBox is a great start, and I've enjoyed the few weeks that I've spent with it so far. The interface is VERY clean, and very Mac like, it's intuitive to set up, and it's fast.

My one complaint would be that it doesn't yet have support for a number of popular services, but as this is a newer program, I can't really fault it for that yet. I just hope they have a quick update process and add in other services quickly. Also, $15 seems a bit steep, but we'll have to wait and see what kind of value EventBox provides in the long run. It might be worth it after a few more services get added, but I think the market would have responded better to a $10 price tag.

This looks like an awesome tool. However, even though it is only $15 there are plenty of free tools that can do some of the same things. I think I'll just stick with them as they are consistently getting updated also.

About not able to comment on Flickr, you can, just that it might not be too intuitive enough. All you have to do is click on the item, and toggle the “quick input panel” right at the bottom to comment.

A less known feature about viewing photos in Eventbox is viewing multiple photos in full size. Just select a couple of items (use Shift and click the items), right click and select “View Photos”, use your arrow buttons and you’ll be able to navigate through multiple photos. This is applicable for Flickr and Facebook photos.
