The replies to the post have not only helped cement my view on what lies at the core of Social Media Culture but encouragingly so, the mostly constructive input has driven home the true beauty of what Social Engagement can achieve. What I mean by this is that @NicksTraffic's post comes across as somewhat naive & a vehicle to pursue his goal - a number. However, this forum enables people to have a voice, engage, give & receive feedback in the community and like myself, learn. Thank you for giving Nick, myself and I'm sure numerous others the 'full picture'- bloody awesome! Also, Nick a few questions for you: 1. Any updates on progress? It'd be great if you did some follow up on your goal, I notice just now you are some 444 followers strong (as of this reply) and it is ~ 4.5months on - do you have any monthly/weekly stats, are you graphing growth/shrinkage? It would be awesome to see, especially if there is an inflection point after which critical mass sends you exponential for example. Although having tons of followers is fab, don’t get carried away with it. If you tweet normally and follow people who share your interests I feel you’ll get far further in whatever mission you have that hoping that you’ll get lots of random followings.
Don’t get me wrong, having lots of people follow you is awesome! But you should try to make sure the majority of these are valuable followers who really will be interested in what you’ve got to say!
