I too am guilty of announcing it once in a while, when someone pisses me off, but a public unfollow doesn't get me "even" with someone who's rude; it just makes me look stupid. From now on, if I have to unfollow, I'll just do it without a word. If I make a mistake, I can always re-follow, and I know how to admit when I've made a mistake. If someone is unhappy with me about an unfollow, I'm not hard to find.
