Well, I tried my best to convince my friends at school to create a twitter account, but they prefer Facebook, lol.

My family has the same problem.

Maybe because on facebook, you can chat and make new friends and on twitter, you can just shout out to the world what your doing at the moment.

I've definitely convinced a few to tweet even though I've been emphatic that Twitter isn't for everyone. I think, weirdly enough, that got a few thinking about how they would use Twitter and what to expect, and so they got on and enjoyed it - I can definitely tell that they were able to build and engage decent followings quickly.

I agree with Barry, I had to get my head around it first but now love it. The key is to be yourself and connect with like minded people to benefit from twitter. We have a few clients who don't have a blog however they choose to use twitter as a micro blog.

Yes, I have convinced people to tweet......some have taken to it and get it, but some of my most loyal fans sign up, and then never put up an avatar, and forget to follow me! I can see that they just don't get it.
Others take to and see the benefit right away.
I have to admit it took awhile and some studying for me to finally REALLY get it, but now.......I love it.

I have to convince myself first - how do you find time to do 100 e-mails a day, and tweet at the same time? It's enough to drive me cuckoo - or tweet-tweet.

I've convinced a few friends of how they can use Twitter because most do not see the purpose at first.

Very interesting results - really shows how word-of-mouth can help Twitter. I think it is important that when people convince friends or family members to use Twitter they make sure to emphasize the importance of the @reply. I know from experience that without explaining this feature many people miss-out on how interactive Twitter can be.

The biggest problem to convince someone is to persuade him that the information that is exchanged is not trivial. In a lot of cases people heard of "tweets about what a guy had for lunch". My argument is "yes, there are such guys, but more and more guys tell you what project they thought about when they had lunch". This little shift makes Twitter really useful. That's what is still missing in the Twitter marketing. They started with the wrong target. But, a lot of users have chosen another one.
