Now that Twitter has finally unveiled how they plan to make money, everyone should start rethinking how to also make money on Twitter. In the beginning all the buzz was about how to get followers and the approach was to get anyone with a pulse to start following you on Twitter.

I started out in the real estate profession and always loved the concept of building equity from property value. This is likely why I became interested in Twitter and influence of Tweet value. There are often comparisons between various Twitter apps and discussions about which is better; however, there are several benefits to using Twitter.com without using an app at all.

One benefit to using Twitter.com is the ability to send and receive Tweets more quickly. Apps can only retrieve messages in intervals so there is usually at least a short delay in receiving messages. Users of Twitter.com can send and receive instantly without having to wait. (more…)

How do you say what you want to say in less than 140 characters? Ask any writer out there. Writing short is difficult.

But it’s something comedians have been doing for years – writing short, pithy punch lines. Ask Comedian Michael Ian Black who recently decided to add advertisements to his tweets. Black wrote in his blog “As of today, I’ve written 2,655 tweets. That’s a lot of free material, all of it contributing to the entertainment of the 1.5 million people who follow me, as well as the multibillion dollar capitalization of Twitter itself.” (more…)

 When you first get on twitter, it’s likely the thing you care most about is how many followers you have. I’ve even been to parties where people will judge my status by the number of followers I have. It’s like walking up to somebody and asking them how much money they make. A year ago when I first got on twitter, I met a girl at a party who I asked me how many followers I had. At the time I didn’t really know how to use twitter, and I had roughly 100 followers. She then proceeded to tell me about a mass follow tool of some sort, so I went home and went crazy following people. It’s about time! The ever popular twitter app, Tweetdeck, has finally come to Android. Just announced, Tweetdeck 1.0 can now be downloaded after a few months of beta testing.

Tweetdeck had a whopping 36,000 beta testers prior to this launch in an effort to make sure the app worked without fail. (more…)

For months after I started my blog I was in the “I think twitter is pointless” camp. I didn’t understand how to use it, I didn’t understand how to connect with people and I didn’t realize why it is not an option but a necessity for any blogger who is serious about growing his or her blog. In the last month however I discovered what I’m realizing is a twitter goldmine of targeted traffic, knowledge, and followers.

TWITTER CHATS

Traffic: One of the most amazing things about twitter chats is the fact that they generate new visitors to your blog. Not only you do get traffic, you get very targeted visitors who are interested in the content on your blog. In one of the recent chats I participated in, I noticed that it actually provided a great opportunity to share relevant content with the people in the chat. To add to that, since the content was highly relevant to the discussion that was going on, the post I wrote about How to write 5 Blog Posts in 2 hours ended up getting a ton of additional retweets.  (more…)

I’ve been using Twitter for over two years. I’ve noticed a few things in that time:

• There’s no specific, agreed etiquette;
• One user’s potion is another user’s poison;
• Your tweeting technique WON’T be liked by everyone, no matter what you do.

This causes difficulty, since there’s no standard to work from. Do you send out hundreds of updates every day? Should you schedule your tweets and pump out content even as you sleep? Will it upset someone if you state an opinion? Will it bore someone if you don’t?

For all the difficult questions millions of users pose every day they use Twitter, the twitterverse is a relatively friendly place. If someone doesn’t like the way you tweet, you won’t find much more than an unfollow coming your way. People get followed and unfollowed all the time, so you won’t have time to take it personally. That’s if you notice at all.

There are many opinions on how to tweet effectively. Most sound sensible and work fine if you follow them. That doesn’t stop the opinions from being controversial. Here are 10 tweeting issues that are subject to the biggest arguments: (more…)

“There’s no such thing as information overload, there’s only filter failure.”

This famous quote from Clay Shirky exactly describes the purpose of MyTweetMag: Twitter is a perfect tool for sharing information and links. But on busy days you might get in trouble when you try to filter the rich news out of the endless twitter-stream. MyTweetMag wants to help you to curate the twitter-stream together with your twitter-friends and to create a collaborative newsstream for a certain topic.

And this is how it works: Join the platform with your twitter-account, add some co-editors, select a hashtag and return to twitter.

In the future, MyTweetMag will import all tweet-links marked with the hashtag and transform them into a clean stream of headlines and abstracts. The plattform also provides a plugin to integrate the newsstream into any wordpress-blog.

What to use it for? Use it as a collaborative bookmarking-tool, a social news platform or a recommendation stream for your blog-audience. It’s up to you!

Okay, that’s too basic, but why get too complicated? Twitter isn’t complicated!

I hear it so often: “Conversations on Twitter are impossible to have.”

Or,”It’s impossible to track conversations on Twitter.”

Both can be valid points, however, it all depends on how you use the service. For those just starting out on Twitter, having conversations is essential for your business and to develop your personal brand. The conversation aspect that Twitter brings allows you to show others what you are about. Are you real and not a bot? Are you transparent? Are you just trying to sell me a product? (more…)
