So yesterday’s post here about Twitter’s DDoS attack got a couple answers, but what was one to do with their spare, stolen, or borrowed time yesterday, when there was no getting on Twitter for any reasonable amount of time?

Lots of people were having hissy fits over on facebook. I’m not sure if was the withdrawals (which I admit, I kind of had myself) or just sheer frustration. Then facebook was being a pain in the you-know-what, so that had people more frustrated.

As of this morning, I still can’t update on Twitter or follow anyone. Clearly others can, and I’m sure I’m not alone. So while I’m trying to keep myself entertained and occupied, I figured I’d find out what you guys did all day yesterday!

This past week or so has been pretty traumatic for some, what with the losses of Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon, Billy Mays, and of course, Michael Jackson.

Up until the #moonfruit promotion had started (Tweeters would use the hashtag for a chance to win a free Macbook Pro), Michael Jackson or some version thereof was the top trending topic on Twitter after his untimely death.

So I give you, dear readers, this poll:

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

The reason I ask is because I happened to notice that many people truly did not send out even one single tweet about Michael Jackson. Sure, there were plenty of people being what I consider to be rude or disrespectful with their tasteless jokes and such… but I am honestly curious as to the percentages of people who did and did not tweet about “MJ” (as that was also in the trending topics, aside from his full name) after his passing.

Even if you only tweeted ONCE about it, please check the “Yes” box. I realize some people (like myself) tweeted about it several times. Also, even if your tweet was what I referred to above as rude or disrespectful, again, please choose “Yes” as your answer.

Happy Independence Day, America!

I’m interested today to hear about how people came up with their Twitter user name?

My personal approach with @problogger was to use the brand and name of my blog (of the same name). I know many others have taken this approach, with their blog, website, business, product etc while others choose their actual name (or some variation of it). Others still use nick names while others invent names that they’ve not used before – just for Twitter.

How did you choose your Twitter user name? What considerations did you weigh up in that choice?

It’s time for another poll. In this one I’m interested to hear how many tweets our readers are doing per month. To get an accurate figure go to tweetstats.com and add your Twitter user name. It’ll calculate a number of interesting stats – including the number of tweets you’ve done over the last year or so. Once you’ve got Novembers number – vote in this poll:

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

For the record – I did 753 tweets on my @problogger twitter account for the month of November. I’m looking forward to seeing what the spread of votes is like.

Do feel free to tell us more about your answer in comments below. What was your exact number? Was November up or down on previous months?

Some follow everyone they can, others wait to be followed before they follow others, some are very selective and only follow those that they personally know, others try to keep those that they follow to a certain focused niche….

Quite a few Twitter users seem to follow anyone who follows them. This poll is simply to identify how common this practice is.

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

Feel free to comment below on why you answered as you did and to share what criteria you use to determine who you follow on Twitter.
