nice site but as mentioned i thnik it would look a million times better without the maths style paper background. perhaps it’s the simple child like appearance you’re trying to convey but imo it isn’t working

Hi Darren,
I have always been a fan of your blogs – be it ProBlogger or Twitip. I am not a photographer and hence couldn’t find interest reading DPS.
As I said earlier, I am reading Twitip in RSS, but since you had asked for the feedback on the design, I came to visit your site. Wanted to provide you the honest feedback, the way I felt.
As some of the previous commenters also mentioned, the graph background really creates a glare in eyes and makes it hard to read the content.
I remember doing the same exercise on my blog earlier : I had a black background with grey text on it. Users complained and I had to change the background. I created black because I like it, but this is not why I set up the blog. I set it up so that readers like it. Even if 50% doesn’t like it, it means there are very high chances that another 25% also doesn’t like that much, but are afraid to say so.
I would personally remove it.
Well, but I am a small blogger and not at all famous. So I can’t take any chance.
You are famous and since you have nice following already, reader will eventually adjust or at max read it in RSS as myself. So you can make a decision on your choice.

Nice job by Crea8d-design. I haven’t a clue what people mean when they find the background ‘cluttered’. The background is ‘white’. The posts are clear, ‘black on white’ and the posts are on the left. Pretty clear to me. See what happens when you ask us. Better not do that anymore

The new logo is awesome. Personally I like the background, though I think it would be easier to read the poll on the right (and other sidebar content) if each thing was in its own white-background container, much like each comment.

I really like the new design! (although the comment box could be a little wider…) I’m not going to harp on thesis but I’m not a giant fan and I’m kind of glad to see a more unique layout here. =)

we’ve pulled back the harshness of the background (it’s at about 65% of what it was). You might need to refresh cache to see the impact.

Dear Darren & team,

Another option to approach this situation in the future would be to draw some inspiration from Tony Robbins.

I’m on his mailing list and recently I got an invitation to vote for the design I like best for his main site. A link took me to a page with quite a few templates that have all been submitted by participants in the design contest he ran.

PS I loved the Thesis theme.
