This post is a poll but also a test of a new tool for Twitter users called twtpoll – a basic Polling system for Twitter users.
You can cast your vote in this poll here and see the results of it here.
Here are some early polling results:

PS: The only real feature I’d love twtpoll to add after my first impressions are the ability to embed the poll into another type of site (ie this blog). While I know this is a tool aimed at Twitter users it’d be great to be able to also run it on a blog or other type of website. update – they’ve just added this feature – nice!

@farrhad
I have 3 real life friends who follow me.
@felipecoimbra
Hi Darren, if you look at the results page of your poll, you’ll see I added the option to embed either the question or results of a poll now. See example @ http://twtapps.com/blog/
@gloson
Wow! I can’t believe I have only 1 real life friend who has a twitter account. And only now I realized.
@ryanbruce
Maybe only 5% of my friends are on Twitter. Most of them don’t seem to understand it.
I almost consider myself a Twitter Evangelist telling everyone about Twitter. =)
@scottwilliams
I have a fair percent of real friends; as my initial followers were grass roots people I knew involved in ministry/web 2.o that number is decreasing daily. The poll results don’t surprise me!
@AJester
You left out the option, “I don’t have any REAL LIFE friends, I still live in my Mother’s basement.”
@thomasflight
None of my twitter friends are real life friends. But twitter is just now starting to become mainstream.
@waltpsu
You can embed the poll results. Follow your own link to the poll results and scroll down. According to their blog, the feature was just rolled out yesterday.
@JoelDrapper
Who is a REAL LIFE friend? Is that someone you know in person?
@vlb
The comments imply that many people are answering the question “what percent of the people you follow in Twitter are also RL friends” which is not the same as “What percent of your RL friends use Twitter”. Very different questions.
I could answer the first; no clue on the second. And how are we defining “friend” here anyway? Someone I’ve met in person?
@gloson
@Joel Drapper
Yup, REAL LIFE friends means the people whom you know personally
@hectorhenry17
Ineresthing. 1-10 its my vote.
@bradhart
this is definitely an interesting question and I agree with Vicki on how different those two potential questions are. I am not even really sure how to define friends in the braoder sense of the word. I have several people I know in the physical world who have twitter accounts, but I don’t follow them, it is good enough they are on my YIM and email contact list. I have several people I do know locally, but am not really friends with even if I do know them well enough to say hi by name at the grocery store. They use twitter to update us on what’s happening in the area. I also follow several local groups who post updates on twitter, but is that a group or a friend? In reality the only person whose twits I follow who I am friends with in the physical world is my wife, and she only twits when there is a message or site she wants people to know about.
BTW this poll tool is an amazing little bit of work. I just posted my first poll. http://bradstinyworld.com/internet/social-media/social-linking/
@TweeterTips
I don’t know of any real life friends that twitter. Of course I can’t say that I’ve ever really asked them. I think I may have to now.
