I have my main Twitter ID (@xgravity23), which I use regularly, and a private account (@linden_phd), which I use for tracking the work I accomplish on my PhD.

I'm hoping to acquire what appears to be an unused Twitter ID, (@lam), to switch my main tweeting to, after reading Darren's article about doing just that. But I haven't heard back from Twitter support yet.

I use each account for different tweets and purposes. My name account just broadcasts without mixing up tweets from others. Ark Lady is my most active account and posts from my blogs, animal related finds, and provides interaction between my followers and those I follow. I also have a friend feed set up and another one just for blogging and internet related posts.

I have two: one I use to promote the website I work for (distributing our articles, sharing other stories, engaging in conversations with interesting folks to discuss post-advertising ideas) and the one I use to promote myself. And the website.

Well, i would like to use more then one account for handling all my businesses, but till today i dint find a good software which allows me to be logged in in several twitter accounts simultanoiusly, so that i can tweet whatever it is necessary in the different accounts. So the overhead to log off and relog in is just to much to handle several accounts at the same time. Does anyone know if there is such a kind of software out there?

I wrote the first comment and so far i'm the only person to advocate for more than one account. The main reason for the separate accounts is that on my main Twitter account @Sonyanews I write about new media, journalism and other basic things. That is the one account I use for conversation, I stream it to my facebook and myspace and friendfeed. I started @tweetly just for writing poem tweets. I thought it would be cool for people to use Twitter for poetry without doing it for clicks. I write tweet poems when I have the time, I follow only poetry accounts and I read those also when I have the time. My tweetly links only to my friendfeed page. I also just started @mobilinks as a way to automatically share (via delicious and tweetlater) interesting mobile sites and news. It is not for promotion, I just thought people would be interested in a Twitter account just for sharing links to the latest mobile news. That account also links to my friendfeed page. I believe it helps my followers on Twitter for me to have separate accounts. Each account states it's purpose and people who just want mobile links or poetry tweets only get that information. I'm not saying that works for everyone, it is just what works best for me.

I had been using one, but since the election twitter/political tweets became popular I started another account to tweet with like-minded people about politics to try and weed out some of the meanies who were rude and couldn't agree to disagree without insults, rude behavior, etc.
