I think most people with blogs would much prefer having more blog readers. Having Twitter followers is nice, but there are people that follow an awful lot of feeds, and chances are yours could get lost in all the tweets.

I’m wondering what is the correct strategy in getting Twitter followers. Is it accepting every follower and follow back, or is it to only follow the people that are relevant to your business. I really depends how much the number of followers influence the followers you attract.

David – sorry that you feel that having guest posts means the blog is not as good as it would be if it were just me writing it.

I actually hold the exact opposite opinion.

My experience of Twitter is only to a certain point – lets rate it as a 4 out of 10. However I firmly believe that together we know a lot more than any individual. I’m pretty confident that if My knowledge of Twitter is a 4 out of 10 then the TwiTip community is approaching 9 to 10. The 7000 or so people who read this blog and the 100 or so contributors that we’ve had each bring an incredibly diverse range of experiences of Twitter to the table. We’ve had people write on topics I could never ever have covered and as a result I think that this is a more useful place for all – at least I’ve learned a fair bit from involving others and I hope that that is the experience of many.

I’d rather have more blog readers than twitter followers because of the mass amounts of people using applications like Tweetgetter. I just don’t see that all the people ‘Following’ me each day are doing so because they’re interested in hearing what I have to say as opposed to increasing their own “Followers” list. I’d much prefer having people reading my blog and actually being interested in my words!
